Oakland Shower Stall Remodel
This was a really small and funky shower stall lined with this fake tiling vinyl sheets. The seams and corners were loaded with layers of ugly cauking. I ripped out the entire stall down to the studs, poured a new floor, added a curb, seating area and GFI protected exhaust fan and light and tiled the entire space top to bottom.

Alameda Deck
Owner wanted a nice redwood deck to cover the shifting and flaking concrete pad. This concrete pad was a thin layer of concrete poured over a previously damaged layer of concrete. Since I was unable to rest the deck directly on this unstable pad, I had to form holes in the pad where I dug 30" deep holes into the sandy Alameda soil and poured concrete piers to support the deck substructure. A decision was made to replace the rear fence since the posts were severely rotted and replacing the fence after the deck was built would have been more difficult. Built-in seating area was added to the deck. Deck was sanded and sealed by customer.

Oakland Bathroom
This very small bathroom was completely gutted. The space was prepped for many new features such as an electric remote controlled skylight, whirlpool tub, electric wall heater, and yes... an LCD TV. The electrical involved two 15-amp dedicated circuits for the tub and tub heater, and a 20-amp 220 circuit for the wall heater. This proved extremely difficult as the bathroom was an add-on and was laying on a concrete pad and the wall to the main house was contructed of rock, so there was no easy way to run the wiring. To make matters worse, we needed to run two RG-6 video cables for the TV and keep them away from the electric circuits to cut down on interference.

Tiling was done on the diagonal. A pedestal sink was added along with a small medicine cabinet and exhaust fan.

Walnut Creek Bathroom Remodel
This was a relatively easy and quick job. Customer had floors that were sagging around the tub area. A very common problem. Vinyl was removed, subfloor was pulled up in rotted areas and structural members replaced. I then attached a layer of mortarboard to the floor and tiled the room. Aside from the rotted area, everything went smoothly. Bathroom was finished with new base moulding all around and new faucet for the sink.

Oakland Kitchen Remodel
This kitchen was in dire need of a makeover. The ceiling had been patched so many times causing it to be very uneven. The tile counter and backsplash consisted of pale yellow tiles with speckles and early american cooking images printed on the tile. The sink faucet needed to go, and the stovetop was on the verge of being dangerous.

The ceiling was completely removed exposing many weird and hazardous wiring scenarios. The ceiling had two layers of drywall over a plaster and lathe ceiling! Can lights, accent fixtures and undercabinet lighting were added. All the tile was removed and a wooden butcherblock countertop was installed. White 3x6 subway tiling was added for the backsplash, and a stainless steel sink with a modern fixture was added. A new electronic ignition stovetop was also added. Instead of replacing the cabinets, they were all removed and modified to simulate the craftsman style. The cabinet doors on the sink side were fitted with clear safety glass panels. 3-way dimmers were added to complete the project.
